And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
