Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
