Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
