And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
