And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
