Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
