And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
