And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
