Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 "The One Who created me, so He will guide me." 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 "So now we do not have any intercessors." The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none. 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
