And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 Do not betray me 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
