And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 no loyal friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
