Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
