(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
