Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
