The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 “And with gardens and water-springs.” 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
