The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
