(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
