The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
