The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
