The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
