The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
