Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: fear ye not? 142 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 143 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 in the midst of gardens and fountains, 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 And hew ye out houses in the mountains skilfully! 149 Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me, 150 and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses 151 Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend." 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
