Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 And obey not the command of the extravagant. 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful. 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 and do her no harm, lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 156 But they hamstrung her; and on the morrow were repentant, 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 159
