Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 Within gardens and springs 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? 149 So fear Allah, and obey me. 150 And do not obey the bidding of the extravagant, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful. 154 He said: (Behold) this she-camel. She hath the right to drink (at the well), and ye have the right to drink, (each) on an appointed day. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 so the punishment came down upon them. Surely in that there is a sign, but most of them would not believe. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159
