Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 142 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They replied: 'Surely, you are one of those bewitched. 153 You are but a human like ourselves. Produce for us a sign, if you are of the truthful' 154 (Saleh) said: "Here is a she-camel. She has a right of drinking water, and you have a right of drinking it on appointed turns. 155 And touch her not with ill lest there come on you the retribution of an awful day. 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 The punishment therefore seized them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
