The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
