The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said: If you desist not, O Lut! you shall surely be of those who are expelled. 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
