The People of the Woods denied the Noble Messengers. 176 When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 Fear Him who created you, and the generations of the ancients.' 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 Drop down on us lumps from heaven, if you are one of the truthful' 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
