The people of the Wood too called the messengers liars. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who cause others to lose. 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 and do not defraud people in their property or spread evil in the land. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
