The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 191
