The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 "And weigh with scales true and upright. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 Fear He who created you, and the generations of the ancient' 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
