And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
