This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And the satans have not brought it down. 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
