Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
