And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
