And truly, this (the Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 Only the erring people follow the poets. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
