Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is not the fact (that the Israelite scholars already knew about the Quran through their Book) sufficient evidence for the pagans of the truthfulness (of the Quran)? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
