Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you (O Muhammad SAW) when you stand up (alone at night for Tahajjud prayers). 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
