Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
Almighty God's Truth.
