Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
