The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Ta. Sin. These are the verses of the Quran and of the illustrious Book 1 a guidance, and good tidings unto the believers 2 who establish their prayers, and pay the obligatory charity, and are certain of the Everlasting Life. 3 We make their deeds attractive to those who do not believe in the Hereafter, so that they may wander in perplexity. 4 It is they for whom a grievous chastisement lies in store; it is they who shall be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. 5 You have received this Quran from One who is all-wise, all-knowing. 6 Lo! [While lost in the desert,] Moses said to his family: "Behold, I perceive a fire [far away]; I may bring you from there some tiding [as to which way we are to pursue,] or bring you [at least] a burning brand so that you might warm yourselves." 7 But when he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, and whosoever is round about it! And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 8 O Moses, verily this is Me, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise! 9 "Now do thou throw thy rod!" But when he saw it moving (of its own accord) as if it had been a snake, he turned back in retreat, and retraced not his steps: "O Moses!" (it was said), "Fear not: truly, in My presence, those called as messengers have no fear,- 10 Only the unjust become afraid in My presence. Even to these people who replace their bad deeds by good ones, I am All-forgiving and All-merciful. 11 Thrust thy hand in thy bosom and it will come forth white without evil-among nine signs to Pharaoh and his people; they are an ungodly people.' 12 Then when Our enlightening signs came to them, they said, “This is clear magic.” 13 And they denied them out of malice and pride, though in their hearts they believed that they were true. So see how was the end of evil-doers! 14
