Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ta, Seen, Meem. 1 These are the verses of the illuminating Book. 2 We narrate to you from the history of Moses and Pharaoh in all verity, for those who believe. 3 Now Pharaoh had exalted himself in the land and had divided its inhabitants into sects, abasing one party of them, slaughtering their sons, and sparing their women; for he was of the workers of corruption. 4 And We desired that We should be gracious unto those who were weakened in the land, and We should make them leaders and We should make them the inheritors. 5 and to establish them in the land, and to show Pharaoh and Ha man, and their hosts, what they were dreading from them. 6 So We conveyed to the mother of Moses: "Suckle him. If you are afraid for him, cast him in the river without any fear or regret, for We shall restore him to you, and make him an apostle." 7 Then Pharaoh's household picked him up -- later to become for them an enemy and a source of grief for them: Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts were wrongdoers -- 8 And Firon's wife said: A refreshment of the eye to me and to you; do not slay him; maybe he will be useful to us, or we may take him for a son; and they did not perceive. 9 And in the morning, the heart of Moosa’s mother became impatient; and she would have almost certainly given away his secret had We not strengthened her heart, so that she may have faith in Our promise. 10 And she said unto his sister: Trace him. So she observed him from afar, and they perceived not. 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden the breasts of the nurses for the child. (So seeing the girl) said: "Shall I direct you to the people of a household that will rear him with utter sincerity?" 12 So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of the people do not know. 13
