Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ta sin Mim. 1 Those are the signs of the Manifest Book. 2 We shall narrate to you some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh, with truth, for people who would believe. 3 Pharaoh behaved arrogantly in the land, and divided the people into groups, seeking to weaken one section, slaying their sons and sparing their daughters, he was one of those who spread corruption, 4 And We desired to bestow a favor upon those who were deemed weak in the land, and to make them the Imams, and to make them the heirs, 5 And to establish them in the earth, and to show Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts that which they feared from them. 6 So We conveyed to the mother of Moses: "Suckle him. If you are afraid for him, cast him in the river without any fear or regret, for We shall restore him to you, and make him an apostle." 7 And [some of] Pharaoh's household found [and spared] him: for [We had willed] that he becomes an enemy unto them and [a source of] grief, seeing that Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts were sinners indeed! 8 The Pharaoh's wife said: "He will be a comfort to me and to you. Do not kill him. He may well be of some advantage to us, or we may adopt him as a son." They were not aware (of what the future held in store). 9 On the morrow, however, an aching void grew up in the heart of the mother of Moses, and she would indeed have disclosed all about him had We not endowed her heart with enough strength to keep alive her faith [in Our promise]. 10 And so she said to his sister, "Follow him" - and [the girl] watched him from afar, while they [who had taken him in] were not aware of it, 11 ۞ And We had before forbidden foster-mothers for him, so she said: Shall I show you a household who will rear him for you and take care of him? 12 So, We restored him to his mother, so that she might be comforted and not sorrow, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true.
