And indeed, [in times long past] We sent forth Noah unto his people, and he dwelt among them a thousand years bar fifty; and then the floods overwhelmed them while they were still lost in evildoing: 14 But We saved him and the companions of the Ark, and We made the (Ark) a Sign for all peoples! 15 We sent Abraham and he said to his people: “Serve Allah and fear Him. This is better for you if you only knew. 16 Ye serve instead of Allah only idols, and ye only invent a lie. Lo! those whom ye serve instead of Allah own no provision for you. So seek your provision from Allah, and serve Him, and give thanks unto Him, (for) unto Him ye will be brought back. 17 If you belie me, other nations before you also belied. It is only for a Messenger to deliver the clear deliverance. 18 See they not how Allah originates creation, then repeats it: truly that is easy for Allah. 19 (Muhammad), say to them, "Travel through the land and see how He has begun the creation and how He will invent the next life. God has power over all things. 20 He punishes whomever He wills and has mercy upon whomever He wills; and towards Him only you are to return. 21 You cannot defeat His purpose on earth or in heaven; nor have you any friend or helper besides God." 22
