The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 In the nearer land, and they, after their defeat will be victorious 3 Within a few years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice, 4 He helps whomever He wants. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 5 This is the promise of God. God does not ignore His promise, but many people do not know. 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not think for themselves that God did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them without reason and a determined purpose? But many men reject the meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not journeyed in the land and observed what wise hath been the end of those before them? They were stronger than they in power and they broke up the earth and they inhabited it with greater affluence than these have inhabited it, and their apostles came unto them with evidences. And Allah was not one to wrong them, but themselves they were wont to wrong. 9 Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them. 10
