The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 The Roman Empire has been defeated- 2 In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome. 3 Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice 4 He helps whomever He wants. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 5 (This is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know. 6 They know the outward of this world's life, but of the hereafter they are absolutely heedless. 7 Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)! 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 The end of the evil-doers was terrible, for they had rejected the revelations of God and mocked them. 10
