Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 These are verses of the wise Book, 2 A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinun (good-doers) 3 who establish the prayer, pay the obligatory charity, and firmly believe in the Everlasting Life. 4 These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful: 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 And when Our signs are recited to such a man he turns away, waxing proud, as though he heard them not, and in his ears were heaviness; so give him good tidings of a painful chastisement. 7 Surely those who believe and do good deeds shall have Gardens of Bliss. 8 therein to dwell forever -- God's promise in truth; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise. 9 He [it is who] has created the skies without any supports that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We send down water from the skies, and thus We cause every noble kind [of life] to grow on earth. 10 This is God's creation; now show me what those have created that are apart from Him! Nay, but the evildoers are in manifest error. 11
