The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ O Prophet! fear Allah and obey not the infidels and the hypocrites; verily Allah is ever Knowing, Wise. 1 And follow what is revealed to thee from thy Lord; surely God is aware of the things you do. 2 put your trust in Allah; Allah suffices as a Guardian. 3 Allah has never made any man with two hearts inside him. Nor has He made your wives, when you divorce, saying: 'Be as my mother's back' your mothers. Neither has He made your fostered sons as your own sons. These are your own sayings, words which you utter with your mouths; but Allah speaks the truth and guides to the Path. 4 Call them (adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with Allah. But if you know not their father's (names, call them) your brothers in faith and Mawalikum (your freed slaves). And there is no sin on you if you make a mistake therein, except in regard to what your hearts deliberately intend. And Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful. 5 The Prophet has a higher claim on the believers than [they have on] their own selves, [seeing that he is as a father to them] and his wives are their mothers: and they who are [thus] closely related have, in accordance with God's decree, a higher claim upon one another than [was even the case between] the believers [of Yathrib] and those who had migrated [there for the sake of God]. None the less, you are to act with utmost goodness towards your [other] close friends as well: this [too] is written down in God's decree. 6 We took a solemn pledge from the prophets, from you and Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus, the son of Mary -- We took a solemn pledge from all of them. 7 (It was) so that God may ask the truthful of their sincerity. As for the infidels, He has prepared a painful punishment for them. 8
