In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ya Sin. 1 By the wise Qur'an. 2 Verily thou art of the sent ones, 3 On a path that is straight, -- 4 (and this Qur'an) is a revelation from the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate 5 that thou mayest warn a people whose fathers were never warned, so they are heedless. 6 (I swear) that most of them are doomed to be punished. They have no faith. 7 Verily We have placed on their necks shackles which are up to the chins; so that their heads are forced up. 8 And We have set a wall before them and a wall behind them, and covered the top – so they are unable to see anything. 9 And it is alike unto them, whether thou warnest them or warnest them not; they shall not believe. 10 You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward. 11 Verily We shall give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before and that which they leave behind, and of all things have We taken account in a clear Book (of evidence). 12

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
