There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign unto them is the night. We draw off the day therefrom, and lo! they are darkened. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outpace the day: each floats in [its own] orbit. 40 Another Sign for them is that We carried all their offspring in the laden vessel 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 If it were Our will, We could drown them: then there would be no helper [to hear their cry], nor could they be saved. 43 Unless by mercy from Us, and as a comfort for a while. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: expend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: shall we feed those whom God Himself would have fed, if He listed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
